The leadership and entire membership of the Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria (MOUN) have received with profound shock and deep sorrow the news of the passing of Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja Esq., General Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
Comrade Ugboaja was an outstanding labour leader, a tireless advocate for workers’ rights and a dependable pillar of the Nigerian labour movement. His commitment, wisdom and selfless service to the Nigerian working class, as well as his unwavering dedication to the ideals of trade unionism, have left an indelible mark on the labour movement.
Throughout his years of service, Comrade Ugboaja made significant contributions to strengthening the labour movement and advancing the welfare, dignity and rights of Nigerian workers. His passion for workers’ emancipation and his commitment to the principles of justice, solidarity and collective bargaining will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
His death is a monumental loss not only to the Nigeria Labour Congress but also to the entire Nigerian labour movement and the millions of workers whose interests he served with dedication.
MOUN extends its deepest and most sincere condolences to the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, the National Administrative Council, the Central Working Committee, the entire Congress, as well as the family, friends and associates of the late Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja Esq.
At this difficult moment of grief, MOUN stands in solidarity with the Nigeria Labour Congress and the bereaved family. We pray that the Almighty God, in His infinite mercy, will grant the soul of our departed comrade eternal rest and give his family, colleagues and the entire labour movement the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja Esq. will be remembered for his service, courage, commitment and unwavering solidarity with the Nigerian working class.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.
