Scheduled to take place on August 6, 2026, this year’s colloquium is themed:
“The Future of Advertising: Roles of Platforms, People and Regulations.”

The forum will assemble a diverse cross-section of stakeholders, including regulators, policymakers, academic scholars, brand custodians, advertising agencies, tech platforms, legal experts, media organizations, and digital content creators.

Navigating Innovation, AI, and Governance
ARCON emphasized that the 2026 colloquium arrives at a crucial turning point for the sector as artificial intelligence (AI), rapid technological shifts, and evolving consumer habits continuously redefine how advertising content is produced, targeted, and consumed.

While these technological strides unlock massive opportunities for economic expansion and creative innovation, the Council noted that they simultaneously raise urgent challenges surrounding consumer privacy, advertising ethics, transparency, and regulatory oversight.

The 2026 colloquium will feature keynotes, panel debates, and interactive sessions led by prominent industry voices and academic leaders, including: Olu Akanmu, Academic Director, Tech-Leap Initiative at Lagos Business School, Dozie Mbanefo, Managing Director, New Crystal Communications Limited, Prof. Adepoju Tejumaiye,, Department of Advertising and Public Relations, University of Lagos, Dotun Babatunde, Head of Digital Marketing, Olam Agri, Omowunmi Owodunni, Former Chairman, Advertising Standards Panel (ASP), National Students’ Advertising Pitch Competition.

A major highlight of the colloquium will be the grand finale of the National Students’ Advertising Pitch Competition. Six tertiary institutions, each representing one of Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, have qualified to compete for the national title:

North Central: University of Ilorin

North West: Kaduna State University

North East / Kwara Zone: Kwara State University

South East: Ebonyi State University

South South: Rivers State University

South West: Lagos State University

”As the statutory regulator of advertising in Nigeria, ARCON remains committed to promoting an advertising ecosystem anchored on professionalism, fairness, creativity, consumer protection, and global best practices,” Prof. Olatunji stated.

ARCON calls on all stakeholders across the advertising value chain to attend and actively contribute to shaping a forward-looking industry that is ethical, accountable, and resilient.
