The Employers’ Excellence Awards honor businesses that prioritized sustainability, inclusion, diversity, and employee well-being—especially in a demanding business environment—while making noteworthy economic achievements throughout the year.
It is noteworthy that Nestle Nigeria won 11 of the 15 categories in the October 2024 Human Resources Best Practices OSCAR Awards, presented by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPMN).
According to the Director-General of NECA, Mr. Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde: “The Employers’ Excellence Award has become a beacon of inspiration for companies in Nigeria, demonstrating that businesses can thrive by nurturing their workforce, investing in innovation, and giving back to the community. Nestlé has set a remarkable example of delivering a positive impact for their people and the environment while successfully navigating today’s business challenges.”
Furthering, Mr. Shakiru Lawal, Nestlé Nigeria’s country Human Resources Manager had this to say: “We are deeply honored to receive these prestigious awards. This recognition reflects our sustained efforts to nurture our most valuable assets – our people from hiring to retirement, by creating an open and respectful environment, investing in development, and ensuring access to coaching and mentorship.”
According to Victoria Uwadoka, Nestlé Nigeria’s Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, and Sustainability Manager: “In addition to our people-first culture, we believe that our business success will be sustained by contributing to the growth of our environment, a principle we call Creating Shared Value. We believe that our success as a company is tied to the well-being of our employees, our communities, and the planet, and we remain committed to empowering our people while creating shared value.
Brands Spur reported that by focusing on and funding the development of our people, Nestle keeps making enormous and noteworthy progress. Nestlé Nigeria maintained its plastics neutrality status by removing 100% of plastic packaging from the environment on a 1 ton in, 1 ton out basis, in keeping with its pledge to preserve the earth for coming generations. In Nigeria, the company is still the only one that uses the greatest amount of recycled PET in their water bottles. Along with starting to switch to recyclable packaging, Nestlé has implemented energy and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction programs throughout its operations, which has resulted in significant energy savings of more than 46,729 GJ and a decrease in GHG emissions of 5,274 tons of CO2 equivalent.
