In furtherance of one of its seven areas of focus which is Maternity and Child Healthcare, the Rotary Club of Lagos has donated an infant baby incubator to general hospital Badagary recently in Lagos.
This is also to consolidate on the numerous humanitarian projects carried out by the humanitarian body with the aim of making the world a better place for all and sundry.
Speaking during presentation of the incubator in Badagary, the president of Rotary Club of Lagos, Rotarian Joseph Akhigbe said; we are here to donate an incubator to the general hospital here in Badagary, adding that, we have been doing lots of donations within the metropolist but, at this point we said to ourselves that it’s important we come towards this direction.
According to him, “we did a lot of projects in February which we spread round but we couldn’t come here at a time but, today we are here with an incubator and it’s important you understand that Rotary is a continum and the president that is coming after me is here, you can always reach out to him and tell him about your needs.”
His words: “what’s really important for us is, when you see the seven areas of focus of Rotary club of Lagos, maternity and child healthcare is well captured there and that’s why we are here now. We also built ten boreholes in Ifo, Ogun state earlier in the year to support the communities there with clean water, we are also building a school in Ilara community in Epe.”
Continuing, the President further pointed out that, “we actually partner with some corporate bodies to make our society a better place and that’s why we’re here today to donate an infant baby incubator to support maternity and child healthcare”
While receiving the Incubator, the chief medical director of general hospital, Badagary, Dr. Olatunde Bakare who expressed their profound gratitude to Rotary club of Lagos for their humanitarian gesture disclosed that, for a long time this part of the division has been forgotten but, they thank that today, it has been remembered.
According to him, “the governor of Lagos State in 2021, commissioned and equipped the Maternity and Child Center (MCC) in this hospital and turned it to a modern state of the art facility where we have done more than a thousand secerian deliveries, and many deliveries have taken place within the two years in this place.”
“we have also taken delivery of twins, triplets and quadruplets and they all survived. So, when we see people remembering us, we are happy. Last year, NNPC gave us a brand new ambulance, 2022 model. When Rotary came we were happy, we want to also appeal to Rotary Club of Lagos for a partnership so that they can build us an orthopedic or burnt center.
The event was well attended by Rotarians, government dignitries and management staff of general hospital Badagary.
