His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr) Dele Owoniyi, the Obaro of Kabba, has called on indigenes of Kabba at home and in the diaspora to return for Kabba Day 2026, organised by the Kabba Development Union (KDU).
This year’s theme is Consolidating Peace and Strategically Mobilizing Resources for Sustainable Development in Kabba. It reflects a simple conviction held across the kingdom: a community that stands together can build anything, whether roads, schools, businesses or a future its children will want to come home to.
“Our strength has always been our unity. When Kabba speaks with one voice, development follows,” said Oba (Dr) Dele Owoniyi. “I invite every son and daughter of this land, wherever you are, to come home and be part of this moment.”
Festivities open with a Gala Night on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 5:00 PM, bringing together indigenes, investors, public officials and partners of the community. The Grand Finale follows on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Kabba Township Stadium, with cultural displays, masquerades, traditional drumming and dance, and the sights, sounds and flavours that make Kabba one of the proudest towns in the Okun land.
A major highlight of the Grand Finale will be the launch of the Kabba Development Fund, with a target of ₦500,000,000 (Five Hundred Million Naira) to support critical development projects within the community.
“We have talked about Kabba’s potential for a long time,” said Dr. Olorunmowaju Magnus Oluwafemi, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee. “This year, we want every son and daughter to come home not only to celebrate, but to invest in the Kabba they want to see.”
Kabba Day is more than a homecoming. It is a chance to take stock of how far the community has come, honour those who have served it, and agree on where it goes next.
