Speaking at the handover ceremony, Dr. Olubunmi Otti, Southwest Zonal Coordinator of the FCCPC, emphasized that continuous regulatory oversight is essential to maintaining transparency and public trust in the gaming ecosystem.

”The Commission is here to ensure that consumers receive what has been promised to them,” said Dr. Otti. “Our responsibility is to protect consumers by monitoring promotional activities and ensuring operators fulfill their obligations. Today’s successful handover indicates that the process was transparent and that the winner received the advertised prize.”

Addressing industry dynamics during the event, Uma Ntima, Managing Director of iLOTBet, addressed widespread misconceptions regarding the multi-billion-dollar valuation of the gaming sector.

Ntima clarified that a significant portion of the sector’s financial valuation is locked in high-level technological infrastructure rather than net operator profits.

”There is often a misconception that betting companies simply retain all the revenue associated with the industry’s valuation,” Ntima explained. “In reality, a major proportion of that value resides in sophisticated digital infrastructure, custom software, and cybersecurity networks, much of which is sourced internationally. Security is not optional; it is one of the largest continuous investments we make.”

Founded during the COVID-19 pandemic to meet the demand for remote digital access, iLOTBet has consistently prioritized system resilience, user privacy, and age verification tools. Ntima highlighted that adherence to regulatory standards, including strict age checks for users 18 and older and self-exclusion tools, remains critical to building a sustainable, entertainment-focused gaming market.

The ceremony brought together key regulatory bodies, including representatives from the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) and the Lagos State Lottery and Gaming Authority (LSLGA).
Kemi Adebiyi, Principal Legal Officer at the LSLGA, confirmed that iLOTBet met all local regulatory requirements during the campaign.

”Everything observed today indicates that the promotion was conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner,” Adebiyi stated. “The company complied fully with applicable regulatory frameworks, and that will be reflected in our official reporting.”

Stephen Ogundipe, Senior Manager at iLOTBet, added that the company’s ongoing focus on technology, trust, and compliance over the past five years has allowed it to deliver safe gaming experiences while creating job opportunities and supporting local community initiatives across Nigeria.

The event culminated in the presentation of keys to the grand prize, a ₦150 million luxury home in Lagos, to Samuel Nneke, a businessman from Sokoto State who participated in the promotion throughout the World Cup campaign.

”I wasn’t expecting to own property in Lagos,” Nneke said upon receiving the keys. “I simply stayed consistent and hopeful, and today that hope has become a reality.”
Industry observers noted that the event highlights a broader, positive shift in Nigeria’s online gaming market, one where increased cooperation between operators and regulators like the FCCPC, NLRC, and LSLGA continues to elevate operational standards and consumer trust across the nation.
