Bank Customers… Beware of fraudulent emails

Customers of GTBank are at high risk of loosing their hard earned money to fraudsters. In case you one of GTBank customers, you need to be more careful about the emails you open because your account balance could just be wiped out in a blink of an eye. You don’t want that to happen.

The recent trick by these scammers come in the form of a phishing email, informing customer that you subscribed to the GTBank Customer Digest Monthly Bulletin and that a sum of N19,800 has been debited from your account.

You will be asked to click a certain link to cancel the subscription.

Many people would be anxious to quickly cancel the subscription by clicking the spam link.

If you do, it takes you to a fake website where the scammers steal your login details to move all the money in your account.

Meanwhile, in a tweet, GTBank has said the emails are not from the bank and customers should disregard such emails.

“There is nothing called the “GuaranteedTrust Customer Digest monthly bulletin”, the bank said in its verified Twitter handle.

“These scam emails do not originate from GTBank.”

While the debate on digital security continues, with several policies and tools that attempt to make online transactions safer, customers would do well to be extra cautious.
