Agency impounds N3.4m worth of expired dairy product

Kano Road Traffic Agency, KAROTA has impounded over 40 bags of expired powdered milk worth N3.5 Million Naira.

The KAROTA raided an uncompleted building at Zabi-Kafa, Bachirawa, Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State after the agency was tipped off on the activities of some persons suspected to be owners of the expired dairy product.

The product named, ‘Sierolat’ upon examination is believed to have expired over 20 months ago but the unscrupulous businessman, Alh. Babangida Zabi Kafa who allegedly owns the product still repackages it and sells to unsuspecting buyers.

Recall that the agency recently confiscated a trailer load of expired products which also found its way into one of the state’s markets but with the help of a whistleblower, the products were confiscated before it could cause any harm to the public’s health.

The Managing Director of KAROTA, Hon. (Dr) Baffa Babba Dan’agundi has now called on the general public and anyone who has any information about such illegal businesses to come forward as his office has a reward for any persons whose information leads to arrests of such products without revealing his or her identity.

Although no arrest was made during the recent operation, the Agency is on the trail of the owner and his personnel who escaped arrest upon sighting the KAROTA operatives.
