Prominent stakeholders, political leaders, and traditional figures across Ekiti State have expressed overwhelming support for the appointment of Hon. Sola Fakanle as a Commissioner on the Federal Character Commission (FCC) board.

The move is being hailed as a strategic masterstroke by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to amplify Ekiti’s voice and ensure equitable representation within the federal framework.
The appointment follows a formal swearing-in ceremony at the State House in Abuja, where President Tinubu inaugurated Hon. Fakanle alongside FCC Chairman, Mrs. Ayo Omidiran, and 36 other commissioners.
During the ceremony, the President described the FCC as the “conscience of the nation,” charging the new appointees to uphold the highest standards of integrity and fairness.
In a high-profile familiarization visit to the FCC office in Ado-Ekiti, a diverse delegation of state leaders gathered to endorse Fakanle’s new role. The stakeholders cited his “indelible marks” as a former Local Government Chairman as proof of his capacity to deliver.
Notable attendees included: Rt. Hon. Tope Ademiluyi, Former Acting Governor of Ekiti State, Prof. Femi Akinwumi, Chairman, Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hon. Tajudeen Akingbolu, DG, Ekiti State Transport Agency, Hon. Kareem Agunbiade, Member, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Taye Sulaiman & Hon, Temitayo Mayowa-Ojo, Senior Special Assistants to the Governor.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Fakanle expressed deep gratitude to President Tinubu and Ekiti’s political leadership for the trust placed in him. He characterized the appointment not as a title, but as a “call to service.”
”This responsibility is about delivering tangible results for the people of Ekiti State. My tenure will be defined by transparency and a firm advocacy for inclusiveness. Ekiti will no longer be passive in the allocation of federal opportunities.”
