A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), and a renowned Nigerian legal practitioner widely respected for his expertise in constitutional law, human rights, public interest litigation, and election petition matters, Chief Prof. Sebastine Tartenger has described the establishment of the North Central Reformed Youth Assembly (NCRYA) as visionary and a good foresight by the youths in the North Central zone.
S. T. Hon made the encouraging speech at his Gboko residence yesterday when he hosted the state and the Local Government Executive Committees (EXCOS) of the North Central Reformed Youth Assembly (NCRYA) Benue State Chapter led by the State Coordinator, Comr. Ephraim Terver Nyuma which paid him a familiarization and introductory visit to intimate him about the aims and objectives of organization and to seek his professional and fatherly support by standing with the organization to succeed.
The legal Luminary in his fatherly advice, professional wisdom and vast experience warned against the politicization of the organisation and indulgence in sharp practices by the leadership of the organization when the assembly starts yielding fruits. He tasked members of the organization to be committed and dedicated, stating that the beginning of everything is always difficult but determination, perseverance and trust would lead them to see the light of the day citing example on his person, especially his humble background and how he stood firm to be where he is today.
Chief Hon promised to directly or indirectly do everything humanly possible to see that the organization records success on issues that fall within the reach of his powers.
In the spirit of symbiotic relationship and as partners in progress, Prof. Hon informed NCRYA EXCO of his governorship ambition come 2027. He emphasized that even though the organization is apolitical, there is a clear difference between partisanship and exercising one’s civic rights, and called on the members of the organization especially in Benue State to support and pray for him to succeed.
Earlier in his opening speech, the state coordinator of the assembly, Comr. Ephraim Terver Nyuma informed Chief Prof. Hon that the reason for the formation of the North Central Reformed Youth Assembly was necessitated by the establishment of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), which the youth in the North Central found it a good opportunity to leverage for the unity and for the development of the youths in the zone, and as well, to ensure the preservation of the rich cultural heritage and identities in the zone, and sued for the professional and fatherly support of Chief Hon where necessary for the organization to actualize its aims and objectives for the common good of the youths in the zone.
Collaborating the speech of the state coordinator, the State Deputy Coordinator, Pastor Gerasha Francis (Buruku LGA), the Makurdi LG Coordinator, and the Acting Chairman of LG Coordinators, Mr. Stephen Nomnor, the Ogbadibo LG Coordinator, Miss Caroline Ekoja, the Vandeikya LG Coordinator, Hon. Isaac Mtum, and the Konshisha LG Coordinator, Miss. Aondona mngunengen Cindy in their separate speeches, expressed satisfaction with the level Chief Hon has distinguished himself, especially in the legal profession, his general contribution to constitutional and human rights issues, as well as general development of the society. According to them, the above stated attributes served as the yardsticks for which the organization found Chief S. A. Hon and few other personalities in the state who have stake in the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) worthy to synergize with.
The NCRYA members appealed to Chief Hon to bring his wealth of experience to bear on the organization to see the light of the day.
In response to the issue of the 2027 governorship ambition disclosed to the NCRYA members by Chief S. T. Hon, members of the organization encouraged him that he had already distinguished himself in the society, and that his capacity is not in doubt either. Therefore his ambition of leading the state come 2027 is welcome development, and prayed God Almighty who is the maker of leadership to grant his heart desires.
