”We are committed to delivering a world-class facility that will not only meet Nigeria’s energy needs but also serve as a key player in the global market,” said Dangote. “Expanding our capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day will make us the largest refinery globally, surpassing the Jamnagar Refinery in India.”

Key Expansion Details:
Capacity: Increasing crude processing from 650,000 bpd to 1.4 million bpd.
Timeline: Construction is set to begin immediately, with a projected completion within three years.

Employment: The expansion will create approximately 65,000 new jobs, with a target of 85% Nigerian workforce utilization.
Power & Quality: Power generation will double from 500 megawatts to 1,000 MW, and production standards will be upgraded from Euro V to Euro VI specifications, ensuring cleaner fuels.

Petrochemicals: Polypropylene production will be significantly expanded from 900,000 metric tonnes to 2.4 million metric tonnes per annum, enhancing the supply of raw materials for detergents and base oils.

The company also announced plans to list the refinery on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in 2026, offering Nigerian citizens the opportunity to become shareholders in the multibillion-dollar facility.

Dangote expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his continued support of the project.
