Pa Clark Commends Delta Governor Oborevwori for Remarkable Achievements

By Francis Sadhere, Warri

The Elder Statesman and Convener of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Chief Edwin Clark, has lauded Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his significant achievements since assuming office on May 29th, 2023.

In an open letter released on Friday, Clark praised Oborevwori for his swift and impactful leadership, stating that the governor had outperformed his predecessors in a remarkably short period.

Clark noted Oborevwori’s efforts in transforming Warri into a thriving commercial hub, addressing long-standing infrastructural issues, and tackling the state’s infrastructural deficit.

He credited the governor for revitalizing Warri, a once neglected commercial center, which had deteriorated under past administrations.

According to Clark, Oborevwori’s administration has led to the revival of the Warri Township, making it a bustling area once again.

The prominent Ijaw leader also commended the governor’s strategic move to engage Julius Berger Construction Company for the execution of key infrastructural projects across the state, including the construction of three flyovers, a cloverleaf interchange, pedestrian bridges, and road expansions at the DSC Roundabout. These projects, valued at ₦78 billion, are progressing rapidly and have been heralded as pivotal to the state’s growth.

Clark further expressed admiration for the governor’s comprehensive approach to development, with infrastructural projects reaching almost every part of the state.

He cited the ongoing dualization of the Asaba-Ughelli Road, among other initiatives, as evidence that Governor Oborevwori is committed to ensuring equitable development for all regions in Delta State.

In addition to the physical developments, Clark praised the governor for tackling the financial challenges left by previous administrations. He lauded Oborevwori for paying off a debt exceeding ₦300 billion, a feat he described as a testament to the governor’s fiscal discipline and commitment to sustainable governance.

Clark was also quick to respond to criticisms from Senator Ned Nwoko, who had questioned the governor’s effectiveness. Labeling Nwoko’s allegations as baseless, Clark challenged the senator to provide evidence to the contrary, emphasizing that Governor Oborevwori’s focus on people-centered development, rather than political patronage, was driving the state forward.

“I challenge Senator Nwoko to fault my assertions on these developments,” Clark stated. “The governor is using the state’s resources to positively impact the people, rather than sharing them as political patronage.”

Clark concluded by urging Governor Oborevwori to stay focused on his developmental agenda and continue working towards inclusive growth, especially for the oil-producing communities.

He assured the governor of his support, affirming that his achievements in development and democratic enhancement in the state were commendable.

“I am not a praise singer. I speak the truth,” Clark added. “Governor Oborevwori has made remarkable progress, and I urge him to remain undistracted and ensure no community is left behind.”
