Alia unveils Benue nylon factory to check import

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, on Thursday, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to reducing import reliance, promoting local production, and conserving resources through the establishment and expansion of factories in the state.

The governor spoke at the inauguration of the BIPC Polythene and Nylon Factory, Nails Limited, and the expansion of Bread and Water factories, all spearheaded by Benue Investments and Property Company Limited.

He emphasied that the BIPC Polythene and Nylon Factory will meet the growing demand for packaging materials, a sector traditionally reliant on imports.

By producing locally, the factory will boost industries, create jobs, and pave the way for economic self-sufficiency.

Similarly, the BIPC Nails Ltd will support the state’s construction and infrastructure sectors by providing essential materials critical for ongoing development efforts.

The venture will create jobs and significantly contribute to the growth of local industries.

“The expansion of the Bread and Water Factory will address the dietary and nutritional needs of residents while generating thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities. It will also increase internally generated revenue and position the state as a hub for industrial growth in Nigeria.

“Our state is on the path to greatness. These projects mark the beginning of a new chapter in our economic revolution,” Alia stated.

The Managing Director of BIPC, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, underscored the economic benefits of the initiatives, projecting the creation of 300 direct and 400 indirect jobs.

He explained that the projects are designed to stimulate economic growth, reduce unemployment, and improve the quality of life for Benue residents.

“These ventures demonstrate the potential for collaboration between the government, private sector, and community to achieve shared goals. They align with the vision to position Benue State as a hub of industrial revolution in Nigeria,” Asemakaha said.
