LG Electronics, a leading global technology company, reaffirmed its commitment to education by providing students of Dansol High School with valuable products and urged them to imbibe moral values and decent behaviours.

Speaking at the annual Leadership Summit/Press Day of Dansol High School, Agindingbi, Lagos, Digital Manager, LG Electronics West African Operations, Ms. Doris Onwuagba on the theme: SOCIAL MEDIA AS A TOOL FOR DEVELOPING GLOBAL LEADERS, said social media and other digital platforms have empowered people all over the world to communicate, share information, and transform their societies. “Any company which has a presence on Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Twitter, uses social media first to build its brand among customers and the public, but knows that use of these platforms can teach leaders lessons about interacting with others.”

Different speakers at the Dansol High School, Lagos, were optimistic that technology has become a significant tool to improve life, society and positively impact others despite the damning abuses the world has witnessed. They include; Navy Captain Aliyu Adams, Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Lagos State, ably represented by Ms. Damilola Sonayon James and Social Media Content Creator, Ms. Isabella Solomon. They urged youths to be agents of social change even as they yearn for a good life.

In her address to the students, Executive Director, Dansol Christian Mission, Mrs. Omotara Olanitori told the students to understand all they have been taught and try to make the school proud. She also thanked the sponsor, LG Electronics for the prizes given to the students. “The children’s award is determined by how well they did in school and our goal is to raise a complete child.”

LG Electronics distributed a range of cutting-edge products to well-deserved students. The products include; LG TV, Soundbar, Refrigerator, and Microwave Oven. Presenting the gifts to the students for their academic excellence, Public Relations Manager, LG Electronics West African Operations, Mr. Moses Osime said, “We believe that every student should have equal opportunities to succeed in their education and by providing students with our innovative products we try to support their dreams and aspirations in life.”. The Press Day event marked an important step in LG Electronics’ ongoing efforts to support students and promote educational equality. Through initiatives like these, LG demonstrates its dedication to making a positive impact in communities nationwide.

LG Electronics’ commitment to education extends beyond product donations. The company has been actively involved in various educational initiatives globally, including partnerships with educational institutions, scholarship programs, and digital literacy campaigns. By combining technological innovation with a focus on education, LG aims to contribute to the development of future leaders and foster a more knowledgeable and connected society, he said.

Former Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Lagos State, Segun Daodu, represented by Damilola Sonayon James said “Social media is a direct and indirect channel of communication, depending on the intention behind it. We are living in a world with decent technology. It has changed a lot of things – how we relate with one another in the entertainment industry, communication and relationships, even the economy, and the vocation system.

“As leaders, we must live with the right narrative. Use social media to better your life, showcase your skills and talents and improve on your immediate environment to positively impact the social life of others.”

“I urge young people to begin to see how they can explore social media in a constructive way, in a more intentional way so that they have something they are driving at, as opposed to using it to consume. They should use social media to influence, impact and change narrative of how Nigeria is perceived of today,” she said.

The students made several presentations in spoken word, Choreography and debate alongside invited schools, after which Dansol High School’s cultural troupe mesmerized the audience with an energetic dance display.
